Katete Town Council officers are among several delegates from Local Authorities across the Northern, North-Western, and Copperbelt provinces currently attending a capacity-building workshop on website management, digital content creation, and cyber security in Kabwe, Central Province.
The Council is represented by two Programmers and one Public Relations Officer who are participating in the training designed to strengthen the usability and effectiveness of the Local Authority’s website. The platform has recently been upgraded to support improved information flow and timely communication from the district.
During the official opening, Ms. Judith Beene, Director of the ITC Department under the Smart Zambia Initiative at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, underscored the importance of professionalism in managing council websites. She noted that well-maintained digital platforms play a key role in enhancing district visibility and attracting investment.
Ms. Beene also commended Local Authorities already sharing investment opportunities online and encouraged others to follow their example.
As part of the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement, fully developed websites were handed over to all councils in December 2024. With this ongoing training, Katete Town Council is poised to make full use of these digital tools, ensuring better service delivery and stronger community engagement.
