Handover Ceremony Of CDF Loans And Grants For Mkaika And Milanzi Constituencies

Katete Town Council is excited to announce the successful handover ceremony that took place yesterday, Monday, 14th October 2024, at Mpangwe Motel. This significant event marked the distribution of loans to 83 beneficiaries and grants to 113 beneficiaries across both constituencies under the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The total amount allocated for this empowerment program is Eleven Million, Five Hundred Sixty-Five Thousand, Two Hundred Kwacha (K11,565,200.00). This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering local development and empowering our communities.

During the handover ceremony, Acting Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Dr. Lewis Mwape emphasized this event as a testament to the effective fiscal decentralization implemented by the New Dawn Government under the leadership of His Excellency, President Hakainde Hichilema. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the President for his unwavering commitment to increasing the Constituency Development Fund and ensuring its timely release to local authorities. This initiative empowers local communities, particularly women and youth, by providing them with essential financial resources to engage in economic activities and contribute to the nation’s recovery.

Dr. Mwape urged beneficiaries to utilize these funds wisely to enhance economic activities in Katete District, especially for youth and women-headed households. He stressed the importance of using the funds for their intended purposes to maximize their impact.

Additionally, Dr. Mwape commissioned a water bowser procured under the 2023 CDF. This essential equipment will significantly benefit the community by improving access to clean water, supporting agricultural activities, and enhancing overall public health and sanitation in the district.

District Commissioner Mr. Raphael Mphiri also addressed the gathering, affirming that President Hichilema has once again delivered on his campaign promise to alleviate poverty through these empowerment funds. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that citizens benefit from these initiatives.
